| http://grampian-gmc.heavenforum.org/general-chat-f7/weekly-ridesare-they-really-just-for-fun-t252.htmAfter reading the attached post it got me thinking. There may be a few new members that would maybe feel more comfortable for there first few runs with the GMC to maybe put up a Sunday run for novice riders to the club. I do not mean novice as a Derogatory statement . There seems to be a great group of guys doing the Sunday runs that will not suit everyone as they are longer and for more experianced riders. It may be a good idea for some of the newer members that need some confidence building to arrange a Run for the less Experienced to go on to build up there confidence so that they can get a better idea if the club is for them. | I think thats a very good idea, the only way a "novice" rider will gain confidence and ease on their bike is by experience (and some time with Keith ). Organising and running it should be easy enough, distances would need to be fairly short, with plenty of stops along the way. The only difficulty may be finding members to shepherd the flock. | |

| One thing i noticed on Wednesday night was how rushed the departure was.
As there were a large amount of members present we could of sorted the groups a lot earlier and lined up accordingly. The car park is large enough for us to "spread ourselves out" I was in the second group and the first group hadn't even got passed the lights when we rolled up behind them and group three were up my tail for the first 500 metres on the dual carrigeway. Lets have one group away, through the lights and THEN the next group departs.
I can imagine that the newer members were wondering what was going on
Again, leaving Stonehaven was a little hectic.
All this is of course in hindsight, but on evenings with a large turnout the briefing, grouping and departures could do with a little more organising...... | |

| Most Wednesday runs are a little less hectic. I think a combo of the numbers turning up, the first run of the season and the time constraints of early sunst all played a part in the events. Normally, groups are a little more spread out and arrive mid point a couple of minutes apart. Can't say the same for the Red Star, it depends on how hungry Cecil is... I aways found the Wednesday runs very well organised, perhaps the sheer numbers played a part and perhaps the briefing could have been split into two smaller groups to ensure both a staggered departure and a clear understanding of the route/rules. | |

| Richard i agree that it would be beneficial to have a shorter sunday run and some stops (with a cup of tea & a choccy biscuit) As everyone knows i joined the club last year & had to wait a few weeks to go on my first wed night run with my friend to come with me, the second week i plucked up the courage to go it alone. Many of the committee members came over and introduced temselves i felt very welcomed. I think the difference that night being, there wasnt 37 bikes, and to organise these groups was very difficult with the time limit & also some bikes arriving later. I found on the wednesday runs at the beginning i was falling back and couldnt keep up, the mirror system was used and also back markers so i never got lost i personally dont think there were enough committee members to allow this on wednesday evening ? I went on a few of the weekends away and gained a lot of experience & tips from everyone there & did have navigation difficulties but was found, i still say now as i said before its one of the best things i have ever done & meeting a lot of new friends, so the more girls the better we are outnumbered oldmansteve i was introduced to your wife on wednesday night but we didnt have a good natter so hopefully this wednesday we will have a good catch up Kath | |

| Richard That is a great idea. The only issue is how many will turn up and how many would want this. I think maybe we should post an offical run for several weeks ahead and see what the response is. Do you fancy leading this run. I would be willing to assist with it or lead it. Dave | |
