| Last night was the trial run of an alternative meeting point for Wednesday runs heading north. There are three more runs coming into this category ie Route 15 to Turriff, 17 to the Broch and 21 to Fyvie. So - what's your opinion - is it a or a Regards, Ian. | |

| Living in BOD this works for me . Talking to a few people on Wednesday I think the traffic and time to get to the P R was an issue . I also think maybe the numbers were down on Wednesday due to the meeting point .

| It was easy to tell some biker that you met to come to the P & R Kingswell every Wednesday night. Not easy now. I never saw a problem getting to the other side of town from Kingwell, it's not as if we were walking there, we are all on big powerful machines! I will turn up where ever you chose.[b] | |

| Many will remember the two meeting places when we'd a run every second week.
Duthie Park and the Cloverleaf, Bucksburn.
It was confusing trying to remember which meeting place was the one.
We experimented until we had it perfected-- at KINGSWELLS.
Why change the perfect set up. We won't get better by shifting venues.
Heavy traffic at 6.30pm in the Haudagin area, really put me off.

| Coming from Newburgh we have to get to Kingswells and back through thick and thin to get to Kingswells. Now being honest i thought the run to Cruden bay from The BOD P&R ride was boring .Not far enough of a run to enjoy the first half. Think i would prefer it to stay at the Kingswells P&R to be honest. I would still have done the run from Kingswells to Cruden bay then decided to go home on the 2nd half of the run .It is the coming back from the red star to Newburgh after the run that is a bigger pain in the B Must be worse for folk like stumpy and Alan G Take care Richard S | |

| I couldn`t attend on wednesday bike was being sprayed, i wouldn`t have met at the BOD, i enjoy my run through dunecht with no traffic to meet at Kingswells, every day i put up with the traffic queues morning, lunch time, tea time & night time, so sorry wasn`t wanting another one. | |

| I was away last week but would not have been able to get to BOD in time. I am glad the consensus is Kingswells as it doesn't require dealing with city traffic (I have had enough of that by the time I get home from work). Its good to try new things but in this case the P&R gets my vote. | |

| I agree - I come straight from work in town and getting to Kingswells is relatively easy. BOD was a pain, despite leaving later to try to avoid some traffic. Ok, I was still the first one there at 5.45....but I prefer Kingswells.
I also agree with Mike, its easy to say to new/prospective members that we meet at Kingswells. Not to mention there was confusion over the number of folk going for a cuppa at the end as lots of folk started out at Kingswells & were not counted.
One venue just makes things easier all round.

| Perhaps the end venue could be changed? That would resolve the problem of traversing through rush hour traffic and give us other places to aim for in the alloted time scale of the evening run. Although the Red Star has been suitable in the past I think a change is needed. Remember if they had continued with their building project we would be OUT! Mind, where is a big problem, especially for those who have to be in bed early. | |

| BoD P&R gets my vote, due to work commitments getting from BoD to Kingswells P&R some Wednesdays on time is a no goer | |

| Replying to Dan's suggestion of changing the Red star----
We can only go to PRIVATELY owned places. The only other suitable place would be the Cloverleaf at Bucksburn. National companies have to show profit every time. Remember when we used the Four Mile, Kingswells and the hotel at the rear gate of Duthie Park. Both of these were also privately owned.
I remember a few years ago, contacting the PALM COURT. They are part of a large group and when I enquired about going back there for tea/coffee. GREAT they said, but in addition to about £2 for a half cup of coffee, they wanted an additional £120 each Wednesday for the room for half an hour.
Red Star have treated us very well regardless of whether or not we go there with dripping wet leathers. No other hotel/bar would allow that.

| Thanks to all who gave feedback which greatly favours remaining at the Kingswells P&R as a meeting point when heading North.
However, at the committee meeting next Tuesday (24th), I will be puting forward the PROPOSAL that, when heading North, we cover both the BOD and Kingswells P&R as starting points. This will cater for those who prefer the BOD P&R when heading northerly without discomfiting the majority. A ride marshall would be at each location and will be responsible for group management and Red Star tea arrangements.
Personally, I prefer the BOD P&R when running into Teuchterland as, tho' it is much easier for me to get to Kingswells, once running in a group I like the open road which a BOD start provides.
Regarding Dan's comments on the Red Star, we may have an imminent problem as apparently the Red Star has been sold and the new owners may not want our custom! So, lets have your suggestions for an alternative, bearing in mind Cecil's comments on past history at different venues.
Regards to all, Ian.

| Ian Would it not be an idea to find out from the current owners of the Red Star who the new owners will be ? Maybe they could talk to the new owners on the clubs behalf and find out if we would be able to continue using the premises . If we have to find some where else I think we would have move quite quick .
I will not manage to attend the meeting on Tuesday .

| No doubt the new owners will let things run as they are, before "sussing out" the pros
and cons for them. We might be pleasantly surprised.
Club members have already expressed their views on Bridge of Don. So there's no
need to keep on about it.
I wouldn't like to see a "break-away" group being encouraged.

| Sorry Cecil, but some of the members feeding back preferred the BOD meeting point so why should their preference be ignored. My proposal to the committee caters for both preferences and has no effect on the majority. Furthermore, I see no danger of a "breakaway group" being formed.
If the committee do not agree with my proposal I promise not to "keep on" about it!
Regards, Ian. | |

| I would be in favour of your proposal Iain - BoD for runs to certain "foreign parts". Might open up the possibility of more roads. Or could the group start at the car park for B&Q?? We have had a Sunday run starting from there and it attracted about 20 bikes last year without any obvious problems, the same as starting from Banchory etc. | |
