One member asks "what is happening?" As there were 105 logged in to look, including myself, it's obvious a lot of people want to know.
Can I start by asking what has happened to the GMC website? It has not been updated since May 08 and no runs have been posted since then. With this new GMC-CHAT site does it mean it is now defunct?
There are less than 30 members registered on this site so is the GMC now down to a clique of this number? Other than the monthly newsletter how do I find out about the organised runs? I believe there is a weekend away again in a couple of months, but how does the rank and file get to go on it if its not publicised?
There are a lot of questions I would like to ask but as people seem to be looking for an argument all the time and hiding behind their funny names I wont bother.
The camping trip got cancelled due to lack of interest but I'm going this week from Wed if anyone is wanting to come.
KEEP THE RUBBER ON THE ROAD Dan

You are right about not enough of the club members registered on the forum. We have (I mean Phil) has put a notice in the newsletter. There is a permanent link from the top of the newsletter. We have tried to emphasise that you do not even have to register to look on the forum, but then you cannot post a reply. But then all of you reading this already know that! Smile I try to tell everyone I meet about it, as do a few others. Any suggestions on how we can actively recruit all our members onto the forum? Are we missing something?

I am sure Bob will be able to set you right about the web site.

A while back I think Mike put something up about using nick-names and for a while I think folk were identifying themselves, but I suspect newer members to the forum will have no idea who is posting what! Maybe we need to change that, maybe some prefer not to be linked to their opinions for whatever reason affraid

I do listen and have changed my ID.

The number of 'hits' a subject may get is not totally indicative of separate users e.g. could be 30 members looking over 3 times giving higher total.

A clique we cannot be - all are invited to join - it is up to the individual to do so. We have told people & put it in the newsletter - horse, water etc.

It is hoped that this forum is the most up to date reference for trips etc and allows for someone to say - free tomorrow, fancy a run etc. The newsletter and email are other ways of getting info out.

As regards website, Bob has been busy and acknowledged this at the last committee meet he was at. Keeping a site up to date is something most of us have no experience at and cannot help Bob.

I would suggest placing comments on forum. However, we should all question our motives before starting a contentious thread or making comments. A sense of humour is not always picked up or appreciated. Very Happy A smiley may help.

I can assure you no one is more disappointed than me with the lack of updating on the website. Sad Unfortunately various other influences have required my time in the last few months, however do not dispair, things are coming back to normal and I should be able to get it back on the rails shortly. Very Happy
To all of our members relying on the site I apologise but with the advent of the forum we have a vehicle for instant communication and news dissemination so I would encourage members to sign up to the forum and view the various debates and chats going on.

Dan. Come along on a Wednesday night and you'll get all your questions answered.

Ref. our forthcoming weekend away, I emailed you on 5th August about it.
I notified 24 regular "weekend away" members and 17 responded.
I estimated for 35 people and ended up with 33, which I've now confirmed
to the hotel.

Wednesday nights back at the Red Star give us all the opportunity to find out
what activities are suggested / or have been arranged.
